Story: I liked studying science subjects in my school. Maybe the subject chemistry a bit more than others. Believe it or not ! I have always found the subject chemistry was the easiest to understand. Fun fact : I didn't know I would continue studying chemistry even in my late 20s. Anyway, I have decided to do PhD and currently I'm a PhD student at OIST-Japan. I come from an Indian family and my parents barely could read and write. I feel I'm at the opposite end of a spectrum from my parents. I'm very fortunate to meet many inspiring people throughout my life who have helped me in my journey. I grew up in a small farming village. I wanted to be a farmer when I was at my school, maybe it still in my bones. When I'm done with my research, I might start farming or something similar at some point. I came to the realization that doing science research and farming are very similar in their own way. Let me explain: In both of the jobs, you have to start with a plan, and then work hard to finish the project. Uncertanties will make you worry. You will also need patience, a lot of it ! At the end, no matter how small is the result, it will always make you happy. Doing research makes me really happy. I see research as an adeventure. I will continue it as long as I feel the adventure is in me. As you can see, I have so many stories to tell. Unfortunately I'm very much of a nervous speaker in front of a crowd. Good news is that I have alreday started improving. It is never too late to start something.
