Science is an adventure
I've always been a fan of science, especially chemistry, since my school days. Surprisingly, it turned out to be the subject I found easiest to grasp. Now, here I am, doing a Ph.D. at OIST-Japan, a journey I hadn't really planned on taking into my late twenties.
My family background is pretty simple; my parents aren't big on reading or writing. It's a bit like I'm on the other end of the spectrum from them. I grew up in a small farming village, and at one point, I even dreamed of being a farmer. Who knows, after my research, I might give it a shot. I've realized that doing science and farming share quite a few similarities. You start with a plan, put in the effort, deal with uncertainties, and boy, do you need patience! But no matter how small the result, there's a sense of accomplishment. That's what makes me really happy about research – it's like going on an adventure, and I'm all in until the adventure lasts.
I've got plenty of stories, but here's a fun fact: I used to be a bit nervous about public speaking. The good news? I'm actively working on it. It's never too late to step up your game!

Public speaking workshop, 2022
I organized a two-day public speaking workshop in collaboration with four other members of the OIST Orator Club during Researcher Appreciation Month (RAM-2022). Within the event, I gave a presentation sharing my personal journey of improving communication skills since joining the OIST Orator Club. The presentation covered practical tips for enhancing public speaking, including talk structure and maintaining good body posture. Additionally, I shared insights gathered from my two years of active participation and learning within the OIST Orator Club.
Estelle Ingenuity Podcast, 2023
I had the pleasure of joining a two-hour podcast hosted by Stephen L. Estelle, the CEO & Founder of Estelle Ingunity. In our conversation, we covered how I got into science, discussed the details of my research, and explored the broader effects of chemistry on pharmaceutical ethics and molecule monopolies.

3MT COMPETITION, 2023
I participated in the annual 3MT competition at OIST-Japan, presenting a talk titled "Enzyme Mimic Paving the Way for Eco-Friendly Chemical Synthesis". I am pleased to share that my presentation was voted as the second-best talk among 10 other talks by the judging panel.
Video will be out soon in Youtube and I will share the link here. |
Famous Japanese TV show, 2023
I had the privilege of appearing on one of Japan's most renowned TV shows, Waratte Koraete!, which is watched by over 30 million people! In a 12-minute interview, I discussed the potential and societal benefits of enzyme mimic catalysts, emphasizing their role in creating a more environmentally sustainable greener future.
